Mark
Keyasko, 43 is a native of Maplewood, NJ. His study of sculpture
at Montclair State U was influenced by the industrial environment
around him which stimulated his interest in metal forms. With this
metal technique and training he started a jewelry company Keyasko
Designs in 1982, and built it up by exhibiting in juried trade shows
across the country.
Five years later, as his
jewelry business began to grow, Keyasko started another business
of sculptural lighting for residential homes and restaurants. This
satisfied his longing to design on a larger scale,
Along the way, Keyasko integrated
his jewelry skills with the love of his pets to create custom collars
for them. This evolved into making collars for his friends and relatives
pets.
In 1998, 10 years after making the
original collar and with his wife's encouragement, Critterfitter
was created. Mark, utilizing his jewelry background, is focused
on the development of a pet collar line that is now available to
the public.
Mark graduated with
a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in sculpture from Montclair State
University. He lives with his wife Nance, his dog and 3 cats in
their home in Stone Ridge, NY near the Catskills.

Just prior to graduating
from college in 1982 he developed an electroforming technique. In
1986, Keyasko received a US process and product patent for
his metal fabricating technique. His process commands a second
glance because of its visual contradictions. At close inspection
the work looks woven and pliable as fabric. Upon picking it
up, however, one finds that the form is rigid of solid metal.
Below is an example of the tecnique that he uses throughout
his designs
